Footprints On The Air: Television Legends of Cincinnati
A new documentary by Mary Jo Schottelkotte
Mary Jo Schottelkotte's new film is a tribute to the filmmaker's
father and his contemporaries. Weaving together archive footage and
modern day interviews, the filmmaker is collecting memories from the
Cincinnati broadcasting family to tell the story of early television,
spotlighting broadcasting events in a city that was a leader in the
industry during this important time.
The film celebrates the on-camera personalities who played major roles
in creating the experience of growing up with television in Cincinnati
and in the Midwest. It explores the experience of "local Live" and
local fame, and reveals local ingenuity that had a national impact. It
seeks to remind us of the "what if?" and "why not?" attitude that
brought us to now...and will continue to take us into the future. Click her to go to project web site.
COMING TO GROUND chronicles the struggles of Kentucky's farm community to move away from dependency on the global tobacco and petroleum economies to a more sustainable and sane agricultural economy.
The documentary confronts the interdependent global crises in agriculture, energy and climate change from the perspective of the struggles of Kentucky farmers, government officials, and policy makers. It gives a glimpse of a sustainable agricultural future, and reason to hope it is attainable, through its portrayal of the efforts of the unlikeliest heroes — Kentucky farmers, writers, scientists, and policy makers – all dedicated to ‘coming to ground’ in order to create a new agriculture.
